Terms & Conditions of Purchase
We understand that purchasing a wedding gown—particularly online or made-to-order—is a significant decision. These Terms & Conditions are designed to clearly outline our process so you feel informed and confident before proceeding.
By purchasing a gown from The First Last Bridal, both in-store and online, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions, which ensure clarity, transparency, and a smooth experience throughout your gown journey. If you have any questions after reviewing these terms,
please contact us prior to placing your order.
1. Made-to-Order Gowns
made-to-order Gowns are produced by the first last specifically for each bride once an order is confirmed.
Standard gowns are created in the bride’s closest standard size and are not made-to-measure or fully custom unless explicitly agreed in writing.
As each gown is handmade, minor variations in fabric, lace placement, or finishing may occur. These variations are inherent to the design and production process and are not considered faults.
2. Deposit & Payment Terms
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your order and commence production. Production does not begin until the deposit has been received and sizing confirmed.
For online purchases: Payment in full is required at the time of checkout.
For customised orders or alternate payment arrangements: Please contact info@thefirstlast.com.au to arrange a customised invoice with deposit terms.
The remaining balance must be paid in full prior to collection or shipment of the gown, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Installment requests must be approved by The First Last Bridal in advance. All payments are final once made.
3. Customisations & Bespoke Gowns
Customisations and bespoke gown designs are quoted based on initial design discussions. Due to the evolving nature of custom work, final costs may vary from the initial estimate as design details, materials, and labour requirements are refined.
Your design journey will be a thoughtful collaboration between TFL and the bride, resulting in something truly special while remaining true to the TFL aesthetic. While inspiration is welcomed, it’s essential to allow space for creative evolution throughout the process, ensuring the design complements your individual shape and vision.
Please note, TFL will not copy or recreate gowns from other brands or designers.
An initial quote estimate will be provided once the design direction is confirmed. A 50% deposit is required to secure your order. Please be aware that the final scope of works may exceed the original estimate should the design evolve.
For custom or bespoke gowns:
Initial quotes are indicative only & a 50% deposit is required based on this amount
Additional costs may arise and will be communicated as soon as reasonably possible
Payments are required in tiered instalments aligned with project milestones
Written approval is required before any additional work proceeds.
4. Non-Refundable Policy
Due to the made-to-order nature of our gowns, including custom and bespoke gowns:
All deposits are strictly non-refundable
Orders cannot be cancelled, refunded, or exchanged or changed once production has commenced
pieces will remain the property of the first last unless full payment of the original agreed scope of works has been paid in full regardless of deadline timeframes
This policy applies regardless of changes in personal circumstances, including wedding date changes or cancellations, except as required under Australian Consumer Law.
5. Sizing & Alterations
Gowns are not made-to-measure. It is the bride’s responsibility to review the sizing guide and provide accurate measurements when placing an order.
Any sizing guidance or recommendations provided by The First Last Bridal are offered as a guide only. Final responsibility for size selection remains with the bride.
Once an order has been confirmed, sizes cannot be changed, as the gown enters production immediately.
Most gowns will require alterations (including hemming) to achieve the desired fit. Alterations are not included unless explicitly stated in writing and are the responsibility of the bride. Adequate time should be allowed prior to the wedding date for alterations.
6. Fabrics & Natural Characteristics
All gowns are handmade using luxury fabrics.
Due to the delicate nature of these materials:
Minor pulls, slubs, or texture variations may occur
Natural fibres such as silk may contain slight imperfections
These characteristics are inherent to luxury fabrics and are not considered faults.
7. Production Timeframes
Made-to-order gowns have an estimated production timeframe of 12–16 weeks, commencing once the
50% deposit has been received and sizing confirmed.
All other production, customisation, bespoke, and accessory timeframes are listed on our website and form part of these Terms & Conditions. Timeframes are estimates only and may vary due to fabric availability, design complexity, or unforeseen circumstances.
The First Last Bridal is not responsible for delays caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to supplier delays or unforeseen events.
All designs, patterns, and works created by The First Last Bridal remain the intellectual property of the brand.
The First Last Bridal reserves the right to discontinue a working relationship if a bride engages in abusive, threatening, or unethical behaviour toward the brand, its team, or representatives, whether privately or publicly. In such circumstances, the customer will be responsible for payment of all reasonable costs incurred to date, including labour and materials already committed.
Any applicable rights under Australian Consumer Law remain unaffected.
Rush / Expedited Orders:
Rush orders may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Additional fees apply and are required to confirm the expedited schedule. Rush order acceptance depends on current production schedules and fabric availability. No rush order guarantees can be made until confirmed in writing.
8. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify any rights or remedies you may have
under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Under ACL, you are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of
acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Due to the made-to-order nature of bridal gowns, change-of-mind returns are not available.
